Fall in love with the perfect landing page
Valentine’s Day is nearly upon us, and that means people are thinking about love and romance. So how can that relate to us right now? How about creating landing pages that we can fall in love with? What makes a great landing page?
More importantly, what makes a landing page effective? There can be a number of factors that contribute to good SEO on a landing page, and so we’ll list some of the ones that we have a big crush on below.
Quick Loading Times
Here is something that is noticed right away, and in fact, might even prevent people from reaching your site at all. We often joke about diminished attention spans, and whether that is true or not, users definitely do want a page that loads quickly. You may not think of 3 seconds as a terribly long time, but if your site takes longer than that to load, it’s not a good sign. In fact, Maile Ohye from Google was quoted as saying “2 seconds is the threshold for e-commerce website acceptability. At Google, we aim for under half a second.”
This is possibly the one Valentine’s conversation to conclude that finishing quickly is a good thing.
Wrapping it all up, you want your customer to be able to navigate your site. Make navigation easy and instinctive so that they know how to get where you want them to go.
Call to Action!
Ok, so you’ve loaded quickly. You’ve awed them with stunning images. You’ve gone one step further and dazzled them with brilliant, quality content. All right! So why are they bouncing away without engaging?
Surprisingly easy to overlook, a good call to action is the cherry cordial in your box of chocolate. Don’t get your visitor all excited and ready to act, only to leave them hanging. Give them a clear course of action to take.
Now, that said, you don’t want all surface beauty with nothing underneath it. There is a reason why they say that “content is king” and that is simply because if a user comes to your site and sees beautiful images, but nothing to engage them on a deeper level, then your going to miss the mark.
Being a landing page, this means that you’re not going to be hitting them with too much info up front, but what you do choose to display should be of a high-enough quality to grab their attention and keep them on-site.
Beauty may attract someone, but it’s what lies underneath that keeps them.
Did you include a call to action?
