How to Add Google Admin to Google Analytics

You may be wanting to add users to your Google Analytics account, but are unsure of how to do it. You may, in fact, add them at any of three levels: account, property, and view. Depending on what level you choose to add them at, they will have different degrees of access. For example, a user added at the account level has access to all properties and views, while a user added at the view level, they will only have access to view.

In order to add users, you will do so using their email address, which must be registered in Google accounts. You must also have Manage Users permission at the account, property, or view level. In order to add or modify users at a given level, you must have the level-appropriate permission. The same restrictions apply to deletin users. If you are the last user possessing the Manage Users permission, you will be unable to delete yourself.

Adding Users

When you are ready to add new users, simply follow the steps below. You will be able to add as many users as you need.

  1. Begin by signing in to Google Analytics
  2. Click on Admin and make your way to account, property, or view as desired.
  3. In the appropriate column for the level you desire, click on User Management
  4. In the Account Users list, click “+” followed by Add New Users
  5. Enter the Users Google Account email address
  6. Send a message to the new user by clicking Notify New Users by Email
  7. Select the permissions that you desire

Editing Users

If you find that you need to edit the users or change their permissions, you may do so. You will be able to add permissions but will not be able to remove the permissions assigned at higher levels. For example, a user that has been given edit permissions at the account level, then they will also have edit permission at the property and view levels, which you cannot revoke.

If you wish to modify permissions for a user, do the following:

  1. Sign in to Analytics
  2. Click Admin and make your way to account, property, or view as desired
  3. In the appropriate column for the level you desire, click on User Management
  4. Enter the User’s full or partial email in the search box at the top of the list
  5. Click the name of the user, then modify the permissions as desired

Deleting Users

Finally, if you need to delete users, you may do so in the following manner:

2. Select More, followed by Manage Users.

  1. Sign in to Google Analytics
  2. Click Admin and go to the desired account
  3. In the appropriate Account, Property or View column, click User Management
  4. Find the user you wish to delete by entering their full or partial email address in the search box
